Data accuracy and completeness

Information on FranchiseDiff is extracted from publicly filed Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDDs) using primarily automated processing — including AI-assisted text extraction, structuring, and classification of multi-hundred-page PDFs — with periodic manual verification of selected fields. Automated extraction is how we cover 200+ brands consistently, but it can introduce errors, omissions, transcription mistakes, misclassification, mis-attribution between fiscal years or items, gaps where a PDF is poorly scanned, or values that are outdated relative to the most recent filing. We strive for accuracy but cannot guarantee it.

Always review the official FDD and verify all information directly with the franchisor before relying on any number, policy term, or trend shown here. If you spot a discrepancy, please let us know via the feedback form so we can investigate.

FDD currency and state amendments

FDDs are typically updated annually by each franchisor and re-registered or filed with state franchise regulators in registration and filing states. State-amended versions of an FDD can also differ from the franchisor's base (federal-level) FDD. The data shown on FranchiseDiff is extracted from filings we have on hand at the time of extraction; it may not reflect the most recent annual update, an interim amendment, or a state-specific version. Always review the franchise's current registered FDD, including any state-specific amendments applicable to where you intend to operate, before making any decision.

FDD documents

FranchiseDiff does not host, distribute, or provide access to the actual FDD PDF documents. We display structured comparison data extracted from publicly filed FDDs. To obtain an official FDD for a specific franchise, contact the franchisor directly or request a copy through an authorized FDD distribution service or your state's franchise registration filings (where applicable).

The information shown on FranchiseDiff is not a pre-sale FDD delivery.Under the FTC Franchise Rule and various state franchise laws, a franchisor must deliver a current FDD to a prospective franchisee a specified number of days before the prospect signs a franchise agreement or pays any consideration. Viewing data on FranchiseDiff does not constitute that pre-sale FDD delivery, does not start any statutory waiting period, and does not satisfy any franchisor's pre-sale disclosure obligations. The franchisor is solely responsible for delivering an official current FDD to a prospective franchisee in the manner and timing required by applicable law.

State franchise registration; not an offer to sell

FranchiseDiff is an informational tool. Nothing on this Service is an offer to sell, or a solicitation of an offer to buy, a franchise. Franchises may be offered or sold only through a current FDD delivered by the franchisor in compliance with applicable federal and state franchise laws.

Several U.S. states (currently including California, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin) require franchisors to register their FDDs or file notices before offering or selling franchises in those states. FranchiseDiff is not a registered franchise broker in any state. If you are a resident of a registration or filing state, do not rely on FranchiseDiff as a substitute for your franchisor's state-compliant FDD delivery.

New York residents: This advertisement is not an offering. An offering can be made only by a prospectus filed first with the Department of Law of the State of New York. Such filing does not constitute approval by the Department of Law.

No endorsement, ranking, or recommendation

The inclusion of a franchise on FranchiseDiff does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, or opinion about that franchise. We do not rank, rate, or grade franchises. Where we display an external ranking, it is attributed to its original source and is not our judgment.

All comparisons on the Service are user-initiated. Side-by-side results, “changes detected” flags, and trend visualizations are mechanical descriptions of what changed in the underlying data. They are not evaluations of whether a franchise is a good or bad opportunity.

Trademarks and brand names

All trademarks, logos, and brand names displayed on the Service belong to their respective owners. FranchiseDiff is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any franchise brand listed. Brand names and (where shown) logos are used solely to identify the franchises being discussed, in keeping with nominative fair use.

Operator's other industry roles

FranchiseDiff is operated as a personal venture by Heemin Cho. Separately, the same person is a co-founder and COO of Jakiro, a different company building technology for the franchising industry. Jakiro and FranchiseDiff are separate businesses with separate ownership structures, separate teams, and separate products; they do not share customer data and neither owns, operates, or controls the other. We disclose this connection here because transparency about other roles in the franchising industry is the right default for anyone publishing franchise data, even when (as here) the two ventures do not compete with or rely on each other.

Lead referrals and compensation

When you submit information through a “Talk to a Franchise Expert” or similar lead form, your submission is forwarded to one or more independent franchise consultants who may contact you about the franchise you inquired about. These consultants are not employed by, controlled by, or affiliated with FranchiseDiff.

FranchiseDiff may receive a referral fee from the consultants for qualified leads. We disclose this relationship at the point of submission and again here, in keeping with FTC guidance on material connections. The referral fee does not change the information shown on this Service or the franchises that appear in our dataset.

Forward-looking and trend data

Multi-year trend visualizations and “change” indicators describe what happened in past FDD filings. Past trends do not predict future results. A franchise whose unit count grew last year may shrink next year, and vice versa.

Franchisor data correction requests

If you are an authorized representative of a franchisor and you believe specific data shown on FranchiseDiff about your brand is inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete, please email support@franchisediff.comwith the subject line “Franchisor Correction Request,” the brand name, the URL of the page in question, the specific data point you believe is incorrect, and the corrected value with a citation to the official source (typically a section and page reference in the current FDD). We review correction requests in good faith and will update data we are able to verify against publicly filed FDDs. We do not guarantee a response within any specific timeframe, and we reserve the right to retain factual data as filed even where a franchisor disputes its display, so long as the display accurately reflects what was filed.
